Last year, 2020-21, the budget of the health care sector of the country was Rs 94,452 crore. But the budget of 2021-22 has brought new hopes in the health care sector, reaching Rs 2,23,846 crore and with the introduction of PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana.

On February 1, 2021, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the General Budget of the country. In this Budget, she announced various new government schemes. PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana is one such scheme. The project that can boost the health care sector of the country has been kept aside for years. It is an initiative taken by the government to improve and promote the health sector of the country. Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Scheme Objctive
Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Health Yojana 2021 is the scheme launched by the government to assist in improving and modernizing the capacities of the health care sector. Under the scheme, the government will also establish integrated public health laboratories in every district of the country. With this, the government has also decided to make provisions of Rs.35400 crores for the vaccination program of COVID-19.
Under this scheme, critical care blocks in 602 districts and 12 central institutions will be established. The main aim of the scheme is to improve the primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare systems.

Other than this, the government also plans to install 15 emergency operation centres and two mobile hospitals. The government will also assist, National Centre for Disease control. The government will also launch a portal for the country’s citizens so that services can reach them easily.
